San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo will not allow guns, open carry or otherwise

The San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo announced that even with the new Open Carry law in effect in Texas, no firearms of any kind, concealed or otherwise will not be allowed on the Rodeo grounds.

The San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo will not allow the open carry of firearms, now legal under state law, on rodeo grounds during the February event, a spokesperson said in a statement to

The Open Carry Law, passed in the 2015 Texas Legislature, went into effect on January 1, 2016.

Final act announced

The San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo have announced the final acts for next months Stock Show and Rodeo.  Grammy Award nominee Chris Stapelton will have the honor of closing the 2016 Stock Show and Rodeo down with his performance on the last day, February 27th after the PRCA Rodeo Finals.

Stapelton, a longtime songwriter who has penned hits for the likes of George Strait and Kenny Chesney, recently cleaned up at the recent CMA Awards taking album of the year for “Traveller,” his debut as a performer, new artist and male vocalist of the year and is a nominee in this years Grammy Awards.
